5 Favourite staples of a Wide Eyed Doll

I would like to dedicate my first post here to my good friend Anna, the hardest working blogger I know:  http://nothingbutbeauty7.blogspot.ie/  If it wasn't for her encouragement I probably never would've posted anything on this blog...ever...

So, I thought I'd start out with a somewhat introductory post..

5 Favourite staples of a Wide Eyed Doll

5. Disco Pants-

Absolutely every girl should have these in her wardrobe! These high waisted shiny pants are super comfortable, versatile and flattering because they're made from a heavy-weight nylon spandex. (which makes them slimming) I love wearing them with cropped band t's for a more edgy look.
American Apparel have brought out this new peacock coloured pair but they also come in black, red, gold, purple, navy and grey.
At €82 a piece they may seem a little steep but if you opt for a neutral colour you'll have a friend for life!

4. Tulle Skirt-

I am a huge fan of the 1950s era so needless to say I have more then a few circle skirts and dresses in my wardrobes. The tulle underskirt is an absolute must when wearing a circle skirt especially if you want to achieve the ultra feminine silhouette that epitomised 1950s glamour. The one shown above is great for creating volume under a knee or slightly below the knee length skirt but I also have a shorter one that works great on mini circle skirts and dresses.

3. Band t-shirts-

Over the past few months I've noticed more band t-shirts than ever on the high street. I was delighted because I've gathered loads over the years from gigs, vintage stores and older male relatives and am always eager to add to my collection. I love personalising them by cutting off the sleeves, collars, etc and teaming them with a biker jacket. They're definitely one of my favourite things to wear especially because I love music and enjoy anything that combines it with fashion.
I have to admit though that it really annoys me when people wear band t-shirts who have no idea who the band are.

[Recently, I saw someone I know wearing a Ramones t-shirt and I said to him
"I didn't know you were a Ramone's fan, they're one of my favourite bands".
He gave me a look of utter confusion, looked down at his top and said
"Ohhh, are they a band, love?  I had no idea!"]

My advice to anyone going for this look would be
  • Don't wear it if you don't know the band!
  • Be prepared to be asked about the band, members, albums, etc. Do your research!
  • Most importantly, at least know that the logo/people etc are a band.

2. Leather Biker Jacket-

This jacket actually makes me drool! For anyone who hasn't seen it before, its the Burberry Prorsum studded leather biker jacket and was retails at about  €4995.
For me, this is the pinnacle of all biker jackets but sadly I'll just have to make do with the ones I have for the moment :(
A leather jacket is an instant way to make any outfit seem cooler. I love wearing pretty mini dresses teamed with biker boots and a leather jacket.

1. Vintage Boots-

Boots are probably my favourite thing to go thrifting for. I love finding old motorcycle or cow-boy boots where the more studs and harnesses the better. I much prefer to buy vintage boots instead of new ones because I almost never find new ones that I like.
Just like the biker jacket, vintage boots add coolness and character to any outfit.
